Compass team travel the world in 2016 to attend international shipping events

14 December 2016

In April we sponsored the annual Shippax Conference, with our directors David Stickland and Derek enjoying the company and scenery sailing between Stockholm and Helsinki, on board the Tallink Silja’s SILJA SYMPHONY. With 400 delegates from ferry companies around the world it was a great opportunity to keep abreast of current industry issues.

The following month, our Compass and MARIS business development teams had a busy week at Posidonia in Greece– one of the world’s most prestigious maritime events.  Athens was a hive of activity with visitors attending the packed exhibition halls and technical workshops.

David and Diane were showcasing our Compass ferry ticketing and reservation software, whilst Bruce and Cat talked to many of the international ship registries in attendance about MARIS, our ship registry platform.

PDMS visited Canada again this year, to attend the Canadian Ferry Operators Association (CFOA) conference in Ottawa in October, which was a great location for David and Derek to showcase Compass and network with ferry industry leaders and operators from around the world.  The event, which is held over three days, focused on the topic ‘Accessibility in the Ferry Sector’, with speakers from all sectors of the industry. Jetlag aside, the whole event gave us the opportunity to learn about, and keep up to date with, ongoing issues in Canada, and the chance to discuss these points further with ferry operators from around the world.

Two plane trips and a long stopover in Dubai before David and our MD, Chris Gledhill, landed in the Far Eastern city of Manila, where Interferry held its 41st annual conference.  They spent a week in the city, enjoying quality time meeting influential members of the ferry world, catching up with old friends, and enjoying local hospitality.
